Warm weather greeted us early this year. It was much welcome after the rather cold and snowy winter we have just experienced. The snow is fun, but we can only stand the cold weather for so long!
We have taken advantage of the weather and tried to get outside as much as possible. One of first outdoor activities was a picnic lunch in the back yard with Daddy. In addition to just loving our new house in general, we love living close enough to J's work for him to come home and eat with us most days. On one warm sunny March day, we decided to pack the picnic basket and venture out into our nice, big back yard for a little picnic.
Peanut butter and banana sandwiches were on the menu this particular day. E loved them, which his Papaw is glad to hear. Papaw used to make these sandwiches for Mommy as a little girl. To this day it is one of the few ways that I eat bananas!
After lunch, we said goodbye to Daddy and sent him back to work. Then E spent some time playing in his sandbox.
He loves his new sandbox. Maybe he loves it a bit too much. As you can see, he helped himself to a few "tasty" bites of sand.
On another nice, sunny day, we made another visit to the Knoxville Zoo. This time we went to meet Plex and Brobee from Nick Jr.'s Yo Gabba Gabba!. E loves Yo Gabba Gabba! There is lots of music and dancing, two of his favorite things. While we waited in line, K.C. Beaver, the zoo's mascot came by to greet us. E was not a fan. Nor was he a big fan of Plex and Brobee. Notice the big lip in the picture.
After the zoo, we headed over to Mayo Garden Center for a picture with some 4-H animals. They had rabbits, chickens, and a baby lamb for the kids to have Easter pictures with. While E generally loves animals, he was not a big fan of Mommy and Daddy sitting him down on some hay bales in a strange place with lots of strange people looking at him, Had one of us sat with him, it would have probably been a happier experience.
Our Spring time adventures continued yet again a few days later when we made a special late night trip to greet the basketball Vols after their incredible performance in the 2010 NCAA tournament. Daddy didn't really want to go along on this adventure, but fortunately Grammy, being the Vol fan and alumna that she is, volunteered to go with us. And Aunt C and M met us there. E shares a birthday with Coach Pearl, so it was fun to meet him and get a picture with him....well, it was fun for Mommy anyway. E was a bit scared by all of the strange faces and the fact that this strange man is touching him. Don't worry. Mommy is working to teach him that Vols are not strangers. They are our friends. ;) We also got to have a picture with Wayne Chism. E was doing fine next to him until he looked up and realized that Wayne is practically twice as tall as Mommy. Regardless of E's reaction to meeting them, we are so proud of our Vols!
