Indoor Drive In and Homemade Ice Cream

We have had quite the heat wave here in East Tennessee. Temperatures were over 100 several days, breaking multiple records. Needless to say, it was hot! Too hot to go outside. So we brought the fun indoors.

We used a lawn mower box to make a "car," added some cushioning to make it comfy, popped some popcorn and turned on a movie. Bring on the fun!

Then to continue the cool down, we made homemade ice cream in a ziploc bag. We simply combined one cup of milk, 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1.5 tsp of vanilla in a sandwich bag. Then we put ice and large granules of salt in a gallon bag and shook it up for 5-7 minutes. Of course E was tired of shaking after about 30 seconds, but mommy and daddy finished it up, and then he ate it. He said it was delicious!

What is your favorite way to beat the heat?
